Description
Creamy and refreshing vegan strawberry milk made with fresh strawberries and plant-based milk. A delicious and healthy treat perfect for any time of day!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 4 cups unsweetened plant-based milk (almond, soy, oat, or cashew work well)
- 2–4 tablespoons maple syrup or agave nectar (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of sea salt
- Optional: 1 tablespoon vegan strawberry jam (for extra strawberry flavor)
- Optional: Vegan whipped cream for topping
- Optional: Fresh strawberry slices for garnish
- Optional: Ice cubes
Instructions
- Macerate the Strawberries: In a medium bowl, combine sliced strawberries with 2 tablespoons of maple syrup (or agave). Stir well to coat.
- Let it Sit: Cover and let sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes (or up to an hour) to release juices. For extra strawberry flavor, stir in 1 tablespoon of vegan strawberry jam (optional).
- Blend Ingredients: Transfer macerated strawberries and syrup to a high-speed blender. Add plant-based milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt.
- Blend Until Smooth: Blend on high speed until completely smooth, about 1-2 minutes.
- Taste and Adjust: Taste and add remaining maple syrup (or agave) one tablespoon at a time until desired sweetness is reached. For a frothier milk, blend for an extra 30-60 seconds.
- Chill the Milk: Pour blended strawberry milk into a pitcher or jar. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or longer for best results).
- Serve: Stir well before serving. Serve over ice if desired. Garnish with vegan whipped cream and fresh strawberry slices, if desired.
Notes
- Experiment with different plant-based milks to find your favorite.
- For a boost of nutrients, add a tablespoon of chia seeds or flax seeds to the blender.
- Add a tablespoon or two of cocoa powder for chocolate strawberry milk.
- Add half a frozen banana for a creamier, sweeter drink.
- If using frozen strawberries, thaw slightly before blending and adjust sweetener as needed.
- Add a handful of ice cubes for a thicker, smoothie-like consistency.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Shake well before serving.
- If the strawberry milk is too thin, add a few more strawberries or a tablespoon of chia seeds to thicken it up.
- If the strawberry milk is too thick, add a little more plant-based milk until you reach your desired consistency.
- If the strawberry milk is not sweet enough, add more maple syrup or agave nectar, one tablespoon at a time, until it’s sweet enough for your liking.
- If the strawberry milk is too sweet, add a squeeze of lemon juice or a pinch of salt to balance the flavors.
- If the strawberry milk is grainy, it could be due to the strawberries not being fully blended. Blend for a longer time until completely smooth. If you’re using frozen strawberries, make sure they’re slightly thawed before blending.
