Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 ounces mascarpone cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 package ladyfinger cookies (savoiardi)
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
- Dark chocolate shavings, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Start by brewing a strong cup of coffee. Let it cool to room temperature.
- If using coffee liqueur, mix it into the cooled coffee.
- In a large mixing bowl, pour in the heavy cream and whip on medium speed until soft peaks form.
- In another bowl, combine the softened mascarpone cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
- Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring not to soak them.
- In your serving cups, place a layer of dipped ladyfingers at the bottom.
- Spoon a layer of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers, using about 1/4 of the cream mixture.
- Repeat the process with another layer of dipped ladyfingers followed by another layer of mascarpone cream.
- Smooth the top layer of mascarpone cream with a spatula.
- Cover the assembled tiramisu cups with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
- Prepare any garnishes while the tiramisu is chilling.
- Once chilled, dust the tops with unsweetened cocoa powder.
- If using chocolate shavings, sprinkle them on top.
- Serve and enjoy the layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and creamy mascarpone.
Notes
- For a non-alcoholic version, simply omit the coffee liqueur.
- Ensure the coffee is completely cooled before dipping the ladyfingers to prevent them from becoming too soggy.
- Tiramisu can be made a day in advance for better flavor development.
