Fruity strawberry shots with vodka, orange liqueur, and lime. Perfect for parties!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar, plus more for rimming
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup vodka (or more, to taste!)
- 1/4 cup orange liqueur (such as Triple Sec or Cointreau)
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
- Ice cubes
- Lime wedges, for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Strawberry Puree: In a medium saucepan, combine strawberries, 1/2 cup sugar, and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until strawberries soften (8-10 minutes).
- Mash the strawberries with a potato masher or spoon. Simmer for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Cool completely. Transfer to a blender or food processor and puree until smooth. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve for a smoother puree (optional).
- Prepare Shot Glasses (Optional): Rim shot glasses with sugar by moistening the rim with a lime wedge and dipping it in sugar. Chill shot glasses in the freezer for 15-20 minutes for an extra refreshing shot.
- Mix the Shots: In a cocktail shaker, combine strawberry puree, vodka, orange liqueur, and lime juice.
- Add ice to the shaker.
- Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds.
- Strain into prepared shot glasses.
- Garnish with lime wedges.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of vodka and orange liqueur to your taste.
- For a non-alcoholic version, omit the vodka and orange liqueur and replace them with sparkling water or club soda.
- Experiment with other fruits like raspberries, blueberries, or peaches.
- For a spicy kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or jalapeño slices to the strawberry puree while simmering.
- Prepare the strawberry puree ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Use high-quality ingredients for the best flavor.
- Serve immediately for the best taste.
