Description
A refreshing Strawberry Mojito: fresh mint, lime, strawberries, rum, and club soda combine for a sweet, tart, and bubbly cocktail.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6–8 fresh mint leaves
- 1/2 lime, cut into wedges
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (or simple syrup to taste)
- 6–8 fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
- 2 ounces white rum
- Ice cubes
- Club soda, to top
- Strawberry slices and mint sprigs, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Muddle: In a sturdy glass (highball recommended), combine mint leaves, lime wedges, sugar, and quartered strawberries. Gently muddle for 15-20 seconds, pressing and twisting to release juices and aromas. Avoid over-muddling the mint.
- Add Rum and Ice: Pour in the white rum. Fill the glass almost to the top with ice cubes.
- Top and Stir: Top with club soda, leaving about an inch of space. Gently stir to combine.
- Garnish: Garnish with a strawberry slice, mint sprig, and/or lime wedge.
- Serve: Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Simple Syrup: For a smoother sweetness, use simple syrup instead of granulated sugar.
- Other Berries: Experiment with raspberries, blueberries, or blackberries.
- Spicy Mojito: Add a thin slice of jalapeño while muddling.
- Virgin Mojito: Omit the rum and add a splash of white grape juice or apple juice.
- Frozen Mojito: Blend all ingredients with ice for a frozen treat.
- Infused Rum: Use strawberry-infused rum for a stronger strawberry flavor.
- Sweetness Level: Adjust sugar or simple syrup to your preference.
- Mint Variety: Try spearmint or peppermint for different flavors.
- Muddling Technique: Muddle gently to avoid bitterness.
- Ice Quality: Use good quality ice for the best results.
- Mojito is too sweet: Add more lime juice or club soda to balance out the sweetness.
- Mojito is too tart: Add more sugar or simple syrup to sweeten it up.
- Mojito is too strong: Add more club soda to dilute the alcohol.
- Mojito is too weak: Add more rum to increase the alcohol content.
- Mint is bitter: You may have over-muddled the mint. Try using fresh mint and muddling more gently next time.
- Strawberries are not releasing enough juice: Make sure the strawberries are ripe and juicy. You can also add a splash of water to the glass to help release the juice.
- Sugar is not dissolving: Use simple syrup instead of granulated sugar.
