Pink Flamingo Cocktail: A Tropical Delight Recipe

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A refreshing cocktail with a delightful balance of sweet, tart, and slightly bitter flavors, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 ounces light rum
  • 1 ounce grapefruit juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 ounce cranberry juice
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 ounce grenadine
  • 1/4 ounce simple syrup (or to taste)
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Ice cubes
  • Lime wedge or grapefruit slice, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Chill Your Glass: Chill a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for a few minutes. Alternatively, fill the glass with ice while preparing the drink, then discard the ice.
  2. Combine Ingredients in a Shaker: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Add the light rum, grapefruit juice, cranberry juice, lime juice, grenadine, simple syrup, and Angostura bitters to the shaker.
  3. Shake Vigorously: Seal the shaker tightly and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds.
  4. Strain into Your Chilled Glass: Remove the chilled glass from the freezer (or discard the ice). Double strain the cocktail into the glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine-mesh strainer.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Garnish with a lime wedge or a grapefruit slice. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Fresh juice is key for the best flavor.
  • Adjust the simple syrup to taste based on the sweetness of your juices.
  • Use a light, white rum for the best flavor balance.
  • Be mindful of the sweetness of your cranberry juice. Opt for 100% cranberry juice or a low-sugar cranberry juice cocktail.
  • Experiment with other red syrups like raspberry or pomegranate syrup as grenadine alternatives.
  • For a bubbly twist, top with club soda or sparkling wine.
  • For a frozen treat, blend all ingredients with a cup of ice.
  • Batch the cocktail ahead of time for parties.
  • Experiment with different types of bitters like orange or grapefruit bitters.
  • Get creative with garnishes like edible flowers or candied citrus peels.
