  • 1 medium ripe tomato, sliced
  • 1 cup of fresh lettuce (romaine or iceberg for crunch)
  • 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: sliced avocado or cheese for an extra twist

Instructions

  1. Place a large skillet over medium heat. A cast-iron skillet is ideal for even cooking.
  2. Lay the bacon strips in a single layer in the hot skillet. Avoid overcrowding; cook in batches if necessary.
  3. Cook for 4-5 minutes until crispy and golden brown. Flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
  4. Transfer cooked bacon to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess grease.
  5. While the bacon cooks, toast the bread slices in a toaster or a separate skillet with a little butter for added flavor.
  6. Toast until golden brown and crispy, then set aside to cool slightly.
  7. Wash the lettuce thoroughly under cold water and pat dry.
  8. Slice the tomato into thick, even slices (about 1/4 inch thick).
  9. If using, slice avocado or cheese into thin pieces.
  10. Start with one slice of toasted bread as the base.
  11. Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise evenly over the slice.
  12. Layer on 2-3 strips of crispy bacon.
