Peanut Butter Cup Dip: The Ultimate Dessert Recipe

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 3 cups 1x

Description

Creamy Peanut Butter Cup Dip: peanut butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, and chocolate chips combine for a sweet treat. Perfect for parties, serve with graham crackers, apples, pretzels, and more!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips, plus more for topping
  • Optional: 1/4 cup chopped peanut butter cups, for topping
  • For serving: Graham crackers, apple slices, pretzels, strawberries, or any other dippers you like!

Instructions

  1. Make sure your cream cheese is softened. Microwave in 15-second intervals if needed, but don’t melt.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese and peanut butter.
  3. Using an electric mixer, beat until completely combined and smooth. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed. Don’t overmix!
  4. Gradually add powdered sugar, about 1/2 cup at a time, and continue to beat until fully incorporated. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  5. Add vanilla extract and mix until evenly distributed.
  6. Add 1/4 cup of milk and mix. Check the consistency – it should be thick but still easily dippable.
  7. If the dip is too thick, add the remaining 1/4 cup of milk and mix again. Continue to add milk, a tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
  8. Gently fold in the mini chocolate chips using a spatula.
  9. If desired, fold in chopped peanut butter cups.
  10. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  11. Before serving, give the dip a good stir. Transfer it to a serving bowl and sprinkle with extra mini chocolate chips and chopped peanut butter cups (if using).
  12. Serve with your favorite dippers!

Notes

  • Make it healthier: Use Greek yogurt instead of cream cheese for a lower-fat option. You can also use a sugar substitute instead of powdered sugar.
  • Add some spice: A pinch of cinnamon or cayenne pepper will add a warm and spicy kick to the dip.
  • Make it vegan: Use vegan cream cheese and vegan chocolate chips to make this dip vegan-friendly.
  • Peanut Butter Swirl: Reserve a tablespoon or two of peanut butter. Drizzle it over the top of the dip and swirl it in with a knife or toothpick for a pretty presentation.
  • Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Dip: Add 1/4 cup of cocoa powder to the peanut butter base for a richer, chocolatey flavor. You may need to add a little more milk to adjust the consistency.
  • Storage: Store leftover dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Dip is too thick: Add more milk, a tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
  • Dip is too thin: Add more powdered sugar, a tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency. You can also chill the dip for a longer period of time to help it thicken up.
  • Dip is lumpy: Make sure your cream cheese is completely softened before you start mixing. If the dip is still lumpy, you can try using an immersion blender to smooth it out.
