Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips, plus more for topping
- Optional: 1/4 cup chopped peanut butter cups, for topping
- For serving: Graham crackers, apple slices, pretzels, strawberries, or any other dippers you like!
Instructions
- Make sure your cream cheese is softened. Microwave in 15-second intervals if needed, but don’t melt.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese and peanut butter.
- Using an electric mixer, beat until completely combined and smooth. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed. Don’t overmix!
- Gradually add powdered sugar, about 1/2 cup at a time, and continue to beat until fully incorporated. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
- Add vanilla extract and mix until evenly distributed.
- Add 1/4 cup of milk and mix. Check the consistency it should be thick but still easily dippable.
- If the dip is too thick, add the remaining 1/4 cup of milk and mix again. Continue to add milk, a tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
- Gently fold in the mini chocolate chips using a spatula.
- If desired, fold in chopped peanut butter cups.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- Before serving, give the dip a good stir. Transfer it to a serving bowl and sprinkle with extra mini chocolate chips and chopped peanut butter cups (if using).
- Serve with your favorite dippers!
Notes
- Make it healthier: Use Greek yogurt instead of cream cheese for a lower-fat option. You can also use a sugar substitute instead of powdered sugar.
- Add some spice: A pinch of cinnamon or cayenne pepper will add a warm and spicy kick to the dip.
- Make it vegan: Use vegan cream cheese and vegan chocolate chips to make this dip vegan-friendly.
- Peanut Butter Swirl: Reserve a tablespoon or two of peanut butter. Drizzle it over the top of the dip and swirl it in with a knife or toothpick for a pretty presentation.
- Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Dip: Add 1/4 cup of cocoa powder to the peanut butter base for a richer, chocolatey flavor. You may need to add a little more milk to adjust the consistency.
- Storage: Store leftover dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Dip is too thick: Add more milk, a tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
- Dip is too thin: Add more powdered sugar, a tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency. You can also chill the dip for a longer period of time to help it thicken up.
- Dip is lumpy: Make sure your cream cheese is completely softened before you start mixing. If the dip is still lumpy, you can try using an immersion blender to smooth it out.
