Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup of fresh orange juice (about 4–5 medium oranges)
- 1 cup of milk (whole or almond milk)
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 cup of ice cubes
- 1/2 banana (optional)
- 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Wash the oranges thoroughly, cut them in half, and juice them to yield about 1 cup of fresh orange juice.
- Measure 1 cup of milk. Use whole milk for richness or almond milk for a dairy-free option.
- Measure 1/2 cup of sugar. For a healthier alternative, use honey or agave syrup, adjusting the quantity to taste.
- Get your vanilla extract ready to enhance the flavor of your drink.
- Have 1 cup of ice cubes ready. For a thicker drink, you can add more ice.
- In a blender, combine the fresh orange juice, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and ice cubes. If using, add the banana.
- Blend on high speed for about 30 seconds to 1 minute until smooth and frothy. If too thick, add more milk to reach your desired consistency.
- Taste the mixture. If it needs more sweetness, add a tablespoon of powdered sugar or more sweetener, then blend again briefly.
- Chill your serving glasses in the freezer for a few minutes if desired.
- Pour the blended Orange Julius into the prepared glasses, yielding about 2-3 servings.
- Garnish with a slice of orange or a sprinkle of grated orange zest. Whipped cream can also be added for indulgence.
- Serve the Orange Julius immediately for the best taste and texture.
- If there are leftovers, store them in the refrigerator for a few hours. Stir before serving again.
- Feel free to add strawberries or mangoes for a fruity twist.
- Add a scoop of protein powder or spinach for a nutritious smoothie version.
- This drink is perfect for sharing. Make a batch with friends for a fun treat.
- Enjoy your Orange Julius with breakfast items like pancakes or waffles, or as a light lunch accompaniment.
Notes
