- 1 cup powdered sugar, plus more for dusting
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup finely chopped hazelnuts (optional)
- Pinch of sea salt
Instructions
- Combine Nutella and Powdered Sugar: In a medium bowl, sift in 1 cup of powdered sugar into 1 cup of Nutella.
- Mix Thoroughly: Mix with a spoon or spatula until a thick, fudgy dough forms. Scrape down the sides as needed.
- Add Cocoa Powder and Salt: Sift in 1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder and add a pinch of sea salt.
- Incorporate Hazelnuts (Optional): Fold in 1/4 cup of finely chopped hazelnuts, if using.
- Mix Until Smooth: Mix until everything is combined and smooth.
- Chill the Mixture: Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or up to an hour) to firm up.
- Prepare Coating: Place powdered sugar in a shallow bowl.
- Scoop the Truffle Mixture: Scoop out approximately 1 tablespoon of the chilled mixture at a time.
- Roll into Balls: Gently roll each scoop between your palms to form a ball. Dust hands with powdered sugar if sticky.
- Coat with Powdered Sugar: Drop each ball into the powdered sugar and roll until completely coated.
- Remove Excess Powdered Sugar: Lift out and tap off excess sugar.
- Place on a Baking Sheet: Place coated truffles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Repeat: Repeat steps 8-12 until all mixture is used.
- Chill the Truffles: Refrigerate the baking sheet of truffles for at least 15 minutes (or up to an hour) to firm up.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve chilled. Re-dust with powdered sugar before serving if desired.
Notes
- Coatings: Experiment with different coatings like cocoa powder, chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or melted chocolate.
- Espresso Powder: Add 1 teaspoon of espresso powder for a mocha flavor.
- Liqueur: Add 1 tablespoon of Frangelico or Kahlua for a sophisticated touch.
