Description
A classic margarita recipe with tequila, Cointreau, fresh lime juice, and agave nectar. Perfect for parties or a relaxing evening.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 cups (96 ounces) Tequila Blanco (e.g., Patron, Don Julio, or Espolon)
- 6 cups (48 ounces) Cointreau (or Triple Sec)
- 6 cups (48 ounces) Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
- 3 cups (24 ounces) Agave Nectar (adjust to taste)
- Lime wedges, for garnish
- Coarse salt, for rimming the glasses (optional)
- Ice
Instructions
- Juice the Limes: Juice about 3-4 pounds of limes using a citrus juicer. Strain the juice through a fine-mesh sieve to remove pulp and seeds.
- Combine Ingredients: In a large pitcher or beverage dispenser, combine tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, and agave nectar. Stir well until agave is dissolved. Taste and adjust sweetness as needed.
- Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow flavors to meld.
- Salt Rims (Optional): Pour coarse salt onto a small plate. Moisten glass rims with a lime wedge and press into the salt.
- Prepare Glasses: Have enough glasses ready for serving.
- Add Ice: Fill each glass with ice.
- Pour Margaritas: Stir the margarita mixture and pour over ice, leaving a little room at the top.
- Garnish: Garnish with lime wedges.
- Serve: Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Adjust agave nectar to taste based on lime tartness.
- Simple syrup can be used in place of agave nectar (equal parts water and sugar, dissolved).
- For frozen margaritas, blend the mixture with ice.
- Get creative with flavored margaritas by adding fruits or jalapeños.
- For non-alcoholic margaritas, substitute tequila with sparkling water or club soda.
- The margarita mixture can be made up to 24 hours in advance.
- Use Blanco tequila for the best flavor.
- Fresh lime juice is essential for the best taste.
- Presentation matters! Garnish your margaritas for a more appealing look.
