Ingredients
Scale
- 2 oz bourbon
- 1 oz fresh lemon juice
- 1 oz simple syrup (1:1 ratio of sugar to water)
- 4 oz club soda
- Ice cubes
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish
- 1 lemon wheel for garnish
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine equal parts sugar and water (1 cup each).
- Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar completely dissolves (about 3-5 minutes).
- Remove from heat and let the syrup cool to room temperature. Store any leftover syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a month.
- Ensure you have bourbon, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and club soda ready.
- Squeeze fresh lemons to get 1 oz of lemon juice (about half a medium lemon).
- Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes.
- Pour in 2 oz of bourbon, 1 oz of fresh lemon juice, and 1 oz of simple syrup.
- Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until well mixed and chilled.
- Choose a tall glass or mason jar and fill it with ice cubes.
- Using a strainer, pour the shaken mixture over the ice in your glass.
- Slowly pour 4 oz of club soda over the top.
- Slap fresh mint leaves between your hands to release their aroma and place them on top of the drink along with a lemon wheel.
