Description
Easy heart-shaped Oreo balls dipped in chocolate and decorated with sprinkles. Perfect for Valentine’s Day or any special occasion!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (14.3 ounces) Oreo cookies, regular flavor
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 12 ounces chocolate candy coating (melting chocolate), red or pink
- Sprinkles, for decoration (optional)
- Heart-shaped sprinkles, for decoration (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Oreo Crumbs: Separate Oreo cookies, removing the filling and setting aside. Crush the chocolate wafers into fine crumbs using a food processor, blender, or Ziploc bag and rolling pin.
- Mix Oreo Crumbs and Cream Cheese: In a large bowl, combine Oreo crumbs, softened cream cheese, and reserved Oreo filling. Mix thoroughly until smooth and a dough forms.
- Shape Oreo Balls: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Scoop a tablespoon of the mixture and roll into a ball. Pinch one side to create a point and indent the opposite side to form a heart shape. Place on the baking sheet and repeat.
- Chill: Refrigerate the shaped Oreo hearts for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
- Melt Chocolate: Melt the chocolate candy coating in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Alternatively, melt in a double boiler.
- Dip and Decorate: Remove chilled Oreo hearts from the refrigerator. Dip each heart into the melted chocolate, removing excess. Place on the prepared baking sheet and decorate with sprinkles while the chocolate is still wet.
- Set Chocolate: Refrigerate the dipped and decorated Oreo hearts for 15-20 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely set.
- Store: Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week, or freeze for up to 2-3 months.
Notes
- Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened for easy mixing.
- Be careful not to overheat the chocolate when melting.
- Chilling the Oreo hearts before dipping helps the chocolate adhere better.
- Get creative with your decorations! Use different colored sprinkles or edible glitter.
- If the Oreo mixture is too dry, add a tablespoon of milk or cream cheese. If it’s too wet, add more Oreo crumbs.
