Enjoy the warm, cozy flavors of fall with this homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte. Made with creamy almond milk, rich pumpkin puree, and a blend of spices, this healthier version is perfect for chilly days and easy to customize to your taste.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any milk of your choice)
- 1/2 cup brewed coffee (strong)
- 1/4 cup pumpkin puree (canned or fresh)
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
- Extra pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the pumpkin puree, maple syrup, pumpkin pie spice, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using). Stir well to combine all the ingredients into a smooth mixture.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat. Gradually add the almond milk while continuously stirring to incorporate the pumpkin mixture into the milk without lumps.
- Continue to heat the mixture until warm but not boiling, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- While the pumpkin mixture is heating, brew your coffee using your preferred method (French press, drip coffee maker, or espresso machine).
- Set the brewed coffee aside, and consider brewing it a bit stronger for a more robust flavor.
- Once the pumpkin mixture is heated through, remove it from the heat. Add the brewed coffee and vanilla extract to the saucepan, stirring well to combine.
- Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness by adding more maple syrup, one teaspoon at a time, if desired.
- For a frothy latte, froth the pumpkin spice latte mixture using a handheld frother, blender, or whisk. Be careful not to overdo it to maintain a creamy texture.
- If using a blender, blend on high for about 30 seconds until frothy. If using a whisk, vigorously whisk until bubbles form.
- Pour the pumpkin spice latte into your favorite mug, gently pouring if frothed to keep the foam on top.
- Top with whipped cream if desired, and sprinkle extra pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon for garnish.
- Savor the aroma of your freshly made latte, enjoying the warm spices and pumpkin scent.
- Take a sip and relish the creamy texture and balance of sweetness and spice. Feel free to experiment with spices or flavored syrups to make it your own.
- Store any leftover pumpkin spice latte in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat on the stove or in the microwave when ready to enjoy.
- For a refreshing twist, serve it iced.
