Description

These Greek Chicken Burgers offer a healthy and flavorful twist on traditional burgers, combining ground chicken with feta cheese, fresh herbs, and Greek yogurt for moisture. Served on whole wheat buns with fresh veggies, they make a satisfying meal perfect for any day of the week.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
  • 4 whole wheat burger buns
  • 1 cup baby spinach or arugula
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 1/2 cucumber, sliced
  • Extra Greek yogurt (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, crumbled feta cheese, and plain Greek yogurt.
  2. Add the breadcrumbs to the mixture.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic, chopped parsley, chopped dill, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir this herb mixture into the chicken mixture until well combined.
  4. Using your hands, gently mix all the ingredients together until just combined.
  5. Once combined, divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 1 inch thick.
  6. Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium heat. Add the olive oil and allow it to heat up for about 1 minute.
  7. Carefully place the chicken patties in the skillet or on the grill pan. Cook for about 5-6 minutes on one side without moving them.
  8. After 5-6 minutes, flip the patties gently using a spatula. Cook for an additional 5-6 minutes on the other side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  9. If you prefer, you can add a slice of feta cheese on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking.
  10. Once cooked, remove the patties from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes.
  11. While the patties are resting, prepare the burger buns.
  12. Spread a generous amount of Greek yogurt on the bottom half of each bun.
  13. Place a cooked chicken patty on top of the yogurt-covered bun.
  14. Add a handful of baby spinach or arugula on top of the patty.
  15. Layer on a few slices of tomato and cucumber.
  16. Top with the other half of the bun and press down gently to secure the ingredients.
  17. Serve the Greek chicken burgers immediately while they are warm.

Notes

  • For an extra touch, drizzle some additional Greek yogurt on top of the assembled burgers or serve it on the side as a dipping sauce.
  • Feel free to customize your burgers with additional toppings such as sliced red onion, olives, or tzatziki sauce for an authentic Greek flavor.
  • Leftover patties can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
