Description

This Garlic Butter Chicken Skillet features tender chicken breasts seared to perfection and coated in a rich garlic butter sauce, making it a quick and flavorful weeknight dinner option. Pair it with your favorite sides for a delicious meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels and season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken breasts, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Sear for 5-7 minutes on one side until golden brown.
  3. Flip the chicken and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Remove the chicken from the skillet and cover loosely with aluminum foil.
  4. In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Allow it to melt, scraping up any browned bits from the pan.
  5. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant and slightly golden, being careful not to burn it.
  6. Sprinkle in the dried thyme, oregano, and paprika. Stir for about 30 seconds to bloom the spices.
  7. Pour in 1/2 cup of chicken broth and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer for 3-4 minutes to reduce slightly.
  8. Return the seared chicken to the skillet, spooning the garlic butter sauce over it. Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to absorb flavors.
  9. Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning with more salt, pepper, or red pepper flakes if desired.
  10. Transfer the chicken to a serving platter, drizzle with remaining sauce, and garnish with chopped fresh parsley. Serve immediately with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • For added depth, consider including vegetables like spinach, mushrooms, or cherry tomatoes after sautéing the garlic.
  • For a creamier sauce, stir in a splash of heavy cream or sour cream at the end.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently with a splash of chicken broth.
