Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh mint leaves, packed
- 1 cup fresh lime juice (about 8–10 limes)
- 1 cup white rum
- 1/2 cup simple syrup (adjust to taste)
- 4 cups ice cubes
- Mint sprigs, for garnish
- Lime wedges, for garnish
Instructions
- Start by washing the fresh mint leaves thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt or impurities.
- Gently pat the mint leaves dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towel.
- Cut the limes in half and juice them using a manual or electric juicer. Strain the juice to remove any seeds or pulp.
- In a small saucepan, combine equal parts of sugar and water (1/2 cup each).
- Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar completely dissolves (about 3-5 minutes).
- Remove from heat and let the simple syrup cool completely. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.
- In a blender, combine the fresh mint leaves, fresh lime juice, white rum, and simple syrup. Adjust sweetness if desired.
- Add the ice cubes (about 4 cups) to the blender.
- Blend on high speed until smooth and slushy. Stop to scrape down the sides if necessary.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness as needed.
- Pour the blended mojito mixture into glasses, filling them about three-quarters full.
- Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a lime wedge on the rim.
- Optionally, rim the glasses with sugar for a sweet touch.
- Serve with a straw or spoon and enjoy the refreshing flavors.
- Experiment with fresh fruits for a fruity twist or make a non-alcoholic version by replacing rum with sparkling water.
Notes
- Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor.
- Adjust the sweetness to your preference.
- Muddle some mint leaves in the blender for a stronger mint flavor.
