- 2 teaspoons matcha green tea powder
- 1 cup hot water (not boiling, about 175°F or 80°C)
- 1 cup dairy-free milk (almond, coconut, oat, or soy milk)
- 1–2 tablespoons sweetener of choice (maple syrup, agave syrup, or a sugar substitute)
- Ice cubes
- Optional: a pinch of vanilla extract
- Optional: a sprinkle of cinnamon
Instructions
- In a small bowl, add 2 teaspoons of matcha green tea powder.
- Heat your water to about 175°F (80°C).
- Pour the hot water over the matcha powder in the bowl.
- Whisk the matcha and water together until smooth and frothy.
- Optionally, add a pinch of vanilla extract or a sprinkle of cinnamon and whisk until combined.
- Add 1-2 tablespoons of your chosen sweetener to the whisked matcha.
- Whisk again until the sweetener is fully dissolved. Adjust sweetness to taste.
- In a separate glass, pour 1 cup of your favorite dairy-free milk.
- Optionally froth the milk for a creamier texture.
- Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
- Pour the sweetened matcha mixture over the ice.
- Gently pour the dairy-free milk over the matcha.
- Optionally, sprinkle extra matcha powder or cinnamon on top for garnish.
- Stir gently to combine the matcha and milk.
- Enjoy your beautifully layered iced matcha latte!
