  • Author: Maria
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x

Description

Enjoy a delightful Chocolate Clementine Smoothie that blends the zesty sweetness of clementines with rich cocoa for a nutritious and creamy treat. Ideal for breakfast or a refreshing snack!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 clementines, peeled and segmented
  • 1 ripe banana, frozen
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any milk of your choice)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt (optional for creaminess)
  • Ice cubes (optional, for a thicker smoothie)
  • Dark chocolate shavings or cacao nibs for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel and segment the clementines, removing any seeds.
  2. Peel and slice the frozen banana into chunks.
  3. Measure out the almond milk, cocoa powder, honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract, and Greek yogurt if using.
  4. In a blender, add the almond milk first, followed by the clementine segments, frozen banana chunks, cocoa powder, honey or maple syrup, and vanilla extract. If using, add the Greek yogurt.
  5. Blend on high speed for 30-60 seconds until smooth and creamy. If too thick, add more almond milk to reach desired consistency.
  6. Taste the smoothie and adjust sweetness with more honey or maple syrup if desired. For a richer chocolate flavor, add an extra teaspoon of cocoa powder and blend again.
  7. For added nutrition, consider adding a handful of spinach or kale, or a tablespoon of nut butter for creaminess and protein.
  8. If you prefer a thicker texture, add ice cubes and blend until crushed and incorporated.
  9. Pour the smoothie into glasses, garnishing with dark chocolate shavings or cacao nibs if desired. A slice of clementine on the rim adds a nice touch.
  10. Enjoy immediately for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Smoothies are best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Shake or stir before drinking.
  • For meal prep, freeze blended smoothie in ice cube trays and blend with a splash of almond milk when ready to enjoy.
