Description
Enjoy a delightful Chocolate Clementine Smoothie that blends the zesty sweetness of clementines with rich cocoa for a nutritious and creamy treat. Ideal for breakfast or a refreshing snack!
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 clementines, peeled and segmented
- 1 ripe banana, frozen
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any milk of your choice)
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup Greek yogurt (optional for creaminess)
- Ice cubes (optional, for a thicker smoothie)
- Dark chocolate shavings or cacao nibs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Peel and segment the clementines, removing any seeds.
- Peel and slice the frozen banana into chunks.
- Measure out the almond milk, cocoa powder, honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract, and Greek yogurt if using.
- In a blender, add the almond milk first, followed by the clementine segments, frozen banana chunks, cocoa powder, honey or maple syrup, and vanilla extract. If using, add the Greek yogurt.
- Blend on high speed for 30-60 seconds until smooth and creamy. If too thick, add more almond milk to reach desired consistency.
- Taste the smoothie and adjust sweetness with more honey or maple syrup if desired. For a richer chocolate flavor, add an extra teaspoon of cocoa powder and blend again.
- For added nutrition, consider adding a handful of spinach or kale, or a tablespoon of nut butter for creaminess and protein.
- If you prefer a thicker texture, add ice cubes and blend until crushed and incorporated.
- Pour the smoothie into glasses, garnishing with dark chocolate shavings or cacao nibs if desired. A slice of clementine on the rim adds a nice touch.
- Enjoy immediately for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Smoothies are best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Shake or stir before drinking.
- For meal prep, freeze blended smoothie in ice cube trays and blend with a splash of almond milk when ready to enjoy.
