Description

Rich and chewy chocolate fudge cookies loaded with semi-sweet chocolate chips and optional crunchy nuts, perfect for satisfying your sweet cravings!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional, walnuts or pecans recommended)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Gather all ingredients and prepare mixing bowls.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using an electric mixer on medium speed for 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then pour in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture in three parts, mixing on low speed until just combined after each addition.
  6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) with a spatula.
  7. Chill the dough for about 30 minutes (optional).
  8. Prepare baking sheets by lining them with parchment paper.
  9. Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
  11. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Chilling the dough helps maintain the cookie shape and enhances flavor.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months.
  • Serve with cold milk or vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
