Enjoy these ultimate chewy chocolate chip cookies that are soft, buttery, and packed with chocolate chips. Perfect for satisfying your sweet cravings, they’re ideal for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional, walnuts or pecans recommended)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the room-temperature butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Mix in the salt and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition and scraping down the sides of the bowl.
  6. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients in three parts, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  7. Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) with a spatula.
  8. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes for better flavor and texture.
  9. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  10. Drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are golden brown and the centers look slightly underbaked.
  12. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes.
  13. Use a spatula to transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
  14. Store cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
  15. Freeze cookie dough balls on a baking sheet until solid, then transfer to a zip-top bag. Add a couple of extra minutes to the baking time when baking from frozen.
  16. Enjoy your chewy chocolate chip cookies warm with a glass of milk!

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, consider using a mix of semisweet and milk chocolate chips.
  • Chilling the dough is optional but recommended for the best texture.
  • Feel free to customize with your favorite nuts or omit them entirely.
