Delicious braised brisket tacos featuring tender, shredded brisket, warm tortillas, and fresh toppings. A perfect dish for gatherings or cozy family dinners!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 pounds beef brisket
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes (canned or fresh)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 810 corn or flour tortillas
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges (for serving)
  • Optional toppings: diced onions, sliced radishes, avocado, or sour cream

Instructions

  1. Let the brisket sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. Mix chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper in a small bowl to create a dry rub.
  3. Rub the spice mixture all over the brisket.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned.
  5. Remove the brisket and set aside. Sauté diced onion for 5 minutes, then add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  6. Pour in beef broth, scraping the bottom of the pot to deglaze.
  7. Add diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce; stir to combine.
  8. Return the brisket to the pot, ensuring it’s submerged in the liquid.
  9. Bring to a gentle simmer, cover, and braise on low heat for 3-4 hours until fork-tender.
  10. Remove the brisket, let it rest for 10-15 minutes, then shred with two forks.
  11. Return shredded brisket to the pot and simmer for another 10-15 minutes.
  12. Heat tortillas in a dry skillet for 30 seconds on each side.
  13. Assemble tacos with brisket, cilantro, lime, and optional toppings. Enjoy!
