Patriotic American Flag Jello Shots! Red, white, and blue layers create a festive treat perfect for holidays and celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (3 oz) Blue Raspberry Jell-O
  • 1 box (3 oz) Cherry Jell-O
  • 1 box (3 oz) Unflavored Gelatin
  • 6 cups boiling water, divided
  • 3 cups cold vodka, divided (or water for non-alcoholic version)
  • 1 (8 oz) container of Cool Whip, thawed
  • Blue food coloring (optional, for a deeper blue)
  • Edible star sprinkles (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the Blue Raspberry Jell-O in 2 cups of boiling water in a heat-safe bowl. Stir until completely dissolved.
  2. Add 1 cup of cold vodka (or water). Stir well. Add blue food coloring if desired.
  3. Pour the blue Jell-O mixture into a baking dish (9×13 inch or smaller for a thicker layer). Aim for a ½ inch thick layer.
  4. Refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours, or until completely firm.
  5. Use a small star-shaped cookie cutter to cut out star shapes. Gently remove the stars.
  6. Set the blue stars aside.
  7. Sprinkle the unflavored gelatin over 1 cup of cold water in a heat-safe bowl. Let it sit for 5 minutes to bloom.
  8. Add 2 cups of boiling water to the bloomed gelatin. Stir until completely dissolved.
  9. Gently fold in the thawed Cool Whip. Stir until smooth and evenly combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  10. Let the white mixture cool slightly for 10-15 minutes.
  11. Dissolve the Cherry Jell-O in 2 cups of boiling water in a heat-safe bowl. Stir until completely dissolved.
  12. Add 1 cup of cold vodka (or water). Stir well.
  13. Let the red mixture cool slightly for 10-15 minutes.
  14. Pour a layer of the red Jell-O mixture into each shot glass, filling it about 1/3 of the way.
  15. Refrigerate the shot glasses for at least 1-2 hours, or until the red layer is firm.
  16. Gently pour a layer of the white mixture on top of the red layer, filling the shot glass another 1/3 of the way.
  17. Before the white layer sets completely, arrange the blue stars on top of the white layer in the corner of each shot glass. Sprinkle with edible star sprinkles if desired.
  18. Refrigerate the shot glasses for at least 1-2 hours, or until the white layer is firm.
  19. Pour a layer of the red Jell-O mixture on top of the white layer, filling the shot glass to the top.
  20. Refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours, or preferably overnight, to ensure all layers are completely set.

Notes

  • Use high-quality vodka for the best flavor.
  • Don’t skip the cooling step to prevent layers from melting.
  • Be patient and let each layer set completely before adding the next.
  • Lightly grease shot glasses with cooking spray for easier serving.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, substitute vodka with cold water.
  • Adjust sweetness by reducing the amount of Jell-O powder slightly.
  • Garnish with a small American flag toothpick or a fresh cherry.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, covered.
