Description
Indulge in the flaky, buttery goodness of homemade almond croissants. This delightful pastry features layers of rich croissant dough enveloping a creamy almond filling, topped with sliced almonds for an extra crunch. Perfect for breakfast or a sweet treat any time of day!
Ingredients
- Almond filling
- Beaten egg
- Sliced almonds
- Powdered sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Take one triangle of dough and place a spoonful of the almond filling at the base. Gently roll the triangle away from you, starting from the base and rolling towards the tip. Make sure to roll it tightly.
- Place the rolled croissant on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, with the tip tucked underneath to prevent it from unrolling during baking.
- Repeat the process with the remaining triangles and filling.
- Once all croissants are shaped, cover them with a kitchen towel and let them rise in a warm place for about 30-45 minutes, or until they have puffed up.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brush the tops of the croissants with the beaten egg for a golden finish. Sprinkle sliced almonds on top for added texture and flavor.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and flaky.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar, if desired.
Notes
- For best results, ensure that your butter is cold when making the butter block.
- Allowing the dough to rest between turns is crucial for achieving flaky layers.
- These croissants can be filled with other fillings such as chocolate or fruit preserves if desired.
