Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound white fish fillets (such as cod, tilapia, or haddock)
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage (green or purple)
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt (optional)
  • Hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the fish fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, combine chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Drizzle olive oil over the fish fillets and sprinkle the spice mixture evenly on both sides. Rub it in gently.
  4. Let the fish sit for about 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  6. Place the fish fillets in the air fryer basket in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding.
  7. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and flaky.
  8. Carefully remove the fish and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
  9. In a medium bowl, combine shredded cabbage, diced tomatoes, and chopped cilantro.
  10. Squeeze lime juice over the cabbage mixture for added flavor.
  11. Slice the avocado or mash it with a fork, adding salt and lime juice if desired.
  12. If using sour cream or Greek yogurt, mix in lime juice and salt to enhance the flavor.
  13. Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side or microwave them wrapped in a damp paper towel for 20-30 seconds.
  14. Place a piece of cooked fish in the center of each tortilla.
  15. Add a generous amount of the cabbage, tomato, and cilantro mixture on top.
  16. Top with avocado slices and a dollop of sour cream or Greek yogurt, if using.
  17. Serve with lime wedges and hot sauce on the side.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the toppings based on your preferences. Other great additions include diced onions, jalapeños, or cheese.
  • For a spicier kick, add more chili powder or your favorite hot sauce.
