- 4 ripe bananas (preferably slightly green for crunchiness)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (melted) or any neutral oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Select slightly green bananas for a firmer texture, or use ripe bananas if preferred.
- Peel the bananas by slicing off both ends and peeling from the top down.
- Slice the bananas into thin rounds, about 1/8 inch thick, using a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife.
- Place the banana rounds in a large bowl and drizzle with lemon juice to prevent browning.
- If using, sprinkle cinnamon over the banana slices.
- Pour in the melted coconut oil (or your choice of oil) and gently toss the banana slices until evenly coated.
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Arrange the banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding.
- Air fry the banana slices for 10-15 minutes, checking at the 10-minute mark and shaking the basket for even cooking.
- Keep an eye on the chips, aiming for a golden brown and crispy texture.
- Once done, remove the basket and let the banana chips cool for a few minutes.
- Taste a chip and sprinkle with salt if desired while still warm.
- Allow each batch to cool completely before stacking in an airtight container to maintain crispiness.
- Store in a cool, dry place for up to a week.

- Experiment with different spices or flavors, such as cayenne pepper for heat or honey for sweetness.
- For a sweeter chip, sprinkle a little sugar or coconut sugar before air frying.
- Use cookie cutters for fun shapes, especially for kids.
- If chips are not crispy enough, return them to the air fryer for an additional 2-3 minutes.
