  • Author: Maria
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 2-3 servings 1x

Description

Enjoy a healthy and crunchy snack with these homemade air-fried banana chips! Perfectly seasoned and easy to make, they are a delightful treat that can be enjoyed on their own or as a topping for yogurt and salads.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ripe bananas (preferably slightly green for crunchiness)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (melted) or any neutral oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Select slightly green bananas for a firmer texture, or use ripe bananas if preferred.
  2. Peel the bananas by slicing off both ends and peeling from the top down.
  3. Slice the bananas into thin rounds, about 1/8 inch thick, using a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife.
  4. Place the banana rounds in a large bowl and drizzle with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  5. If using, sprinkle cinnamon over the banana slices.
  6. Pour in the melted coconut oil (or your choice of oil) and gently toss the banana slices until evenly coated.
  7. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  9. Arrange the banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding.
  10. Air fry the banana slices for 10-15 minutes, checking at the 10-minute mark and shaking the basket for even cooking.
  11. Keep an eye on the chips, aiming for a golden brown and crispy texture.
  12. Once done, remove the basket and let the banana chips cool for a few minutes.
  13. Taste a chip and sprinkle with salt if desired while still warm.
  14. Allow each batch to cool completely before stacking in an airtight container to maintain crispiness.
  15. Store in a cool, dry place for up to a week.

Notes

  • Experiment with different spices or flavors, such as cayenne pepper for heat or honey for sweetness.
  • For a sweeter chip, sprinkle a little sugar or coconut sugar before air frying.
  • Use cookie cutters for fun shapes, especially for kids.
  • If chips are not crispy enough, return them to the air fryer for an additional 2-3 minutes.
